Syd Shines with Debut Solo Album ‘FIN’

Front woman of the Grammy nominated group The Internet, is making her solo debut with her new album FIN. Released on February 3, 2017, the 24 year old singer, songwriter and producer has already received positive reviews from music critics and fans. Fin, released on the Columbia label is a sensual slow ride full of smooth and sweet R&B goodness. Syd’s soft and laid back vocals blend perfectly with the overall chilled vibe of the album.

Syd draws inspiration from the sounds of Aaliyah and Brandy but is still able to remain authentic to her unique style. The album ranges from topics such as the support of strippers (Dollar Bills) to the struggle of wanting to get out of a bad relationship (Insecurities). Sensual songs such as Smile More gives the album an alluring sex appeal that everyone can appreciate. Her confidence brilliantly shines, forcing the audience to forget that she is indeed singing to another woman.

FIN is a bold and strong effort for a debut solo album. Which questions rather Syd should continue to record with her group, or to purse a solo career full time. Only time will tell.
