Katy Perry back with ‘Chained to the Rhythm’

“So comfortable, we live in a bubble, a bubble. So comfortable, we cannot see the trouble, the trouble”

Katy Perry has returned to the scene with her brand new single, Chained to the Rhythm. The song features Skip Marley and has a 1980’s retro Caribbean party vibe. However, the song itself is not just a party anthem. Chained to the rhythm forces the people in higher positions and power, to take a look at what is really happening to the common man in today’s society. Katy sings about such people living happy and comfortable in their Utopia while ignoring the concerning issues that plague the world. A sure enough political song that speaks to our current day problems with the government.

The song not only is designed to open the eyes of those who are in power, but also to wake up those who may be more fortunate than others.

“Are we crazy, living our lives through a lens. Trapped in our white picket fence. Like ornaments”

The mix of socially aware lyrics and dance beats and grooves makes the song easy to respond to. This record is definitely an eye opener and surly will be a popular socially conscious dance song of this generation. Kudos to Katy Perry for using her platform that she was given to make a stance for change.
